HomeSchool Harmony ("we," "our," or "the App") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and share information when you use our mobile application and associated services.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

• Email address
• Name
• Password (stored as a secure hash; we never store plain-text passwords)

1.2 User-Generated Content

When you use the App, you provide:

• Student names and grade levels
• Subject names, lesson counts, and scheduling preferences
• School year dates, holidays, and field trip information
• Schedule data and lesson completion status

1.3 Automatically Collected Information

We may automatically collect:

• Device type and operating system version
• App version
• Crash reports and error logs (via Sentry or equivalent)
• General usage analytics (screens viewed, features used)

We do not collect location data, contacts, photos (unless you choose to upload a student photo), or any data from other apps on your device.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide and maintain the App's scheduling functionality
• Authenticate your account and secure your data
• Sync your data across devices
• Improve the App through anonymized usage analytics
• Send service-related communications (password resets, critical updates)

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

3. Data Storage and Security

• Your data is stored on secure servers with encryption at rest and in transit (TLS/HTTPS).
• Passwords are hashed using industry-standard algorithms (bcrypt).
• Authentication uses JWT tokens with short-lived access tokens and revocable refresh tokens.
• We implement role-based access controls to ensure users can only access their own data.

4. Data Sharing

We do not share your personal information except:

• Service providers: We may use third-party services for hosting, error tracking, and analytics. These providers are bound by confidentiality obligations.
• Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, legal process, or government request.
• Safety: We may share information to protect the safety of our users or the public.

5. Children's Privacy

HomeSchool Harmony is a tool for parents and educators. While the App stores student names and grade levels entered by the parent/educator, it does not directly collect information from children. The parent/educator account holder is responsible for the student information they enter.

We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your personal data through the App
• Update your information through the App's settings
• Delete your account and all associated data by contacting us
• Export your data by contacting us

7. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the App or via email. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
